EV Charging Time Calculator
Estimate the time to charge between two states of charge. Enter the average effective charging power, not just the advertised peak; fast charging slows toward high charge levels.

How this calculation works
Battery energy added (kWh) = usable battery capacity × (target SOC − start SOC) ÷ 100. Charging hours = energy added ÷ average delivered power in kW.
Worked example
For a usable 60 kWh battery charging from 20% to 80%, 36 kWh are added. At an average 7.2 kW delivered, the estimated time is 5 hours.

Frequently asked questions
Why is my session slower?
Temperature, battery management, state of charge and charger limits often reduce average charging power.
Are AC conversion losses included?
No. Enter power effectively delivered to the battery; losses can increase grid consumption separately.
