What the symbol may mean
A red oil-can symbol can mean oil pressure has fallen too low to protect the engine.
What to do now
Stop as soon as it is safe, turn off the engine and arrange a tow. Do not keep driving to test whether it clears.

Check level only after safely parked and following the manual; a normal level does not prove adequate pressure.
